Rhubarb and Garlic Chives
There are some familiar faces out in the garden this time of year. This will be the first year I will be able to harvest from this rhubarb plant. It takes two years before you can start picking leaves, otherwise the plant just gives up. Those beautiful green leaves contain a toxic poison, but the stalk is edible when cooked, and I am looking forward to some amazing pies and jam this year. The garlic chives are a gift from my friend Bill, from his garden to mine. They survived two years in a pot on the balcony, before finding a spot in the ground. Things seem to be changing everyday, I can't wait to share more!
